We tackle barriers that prevent people from living a healthy life. We do this by generating knowledge, changing systems and engaging the public. What Do New Yorkers Think is Fair Vaccine Distribution? In the fall of 2020, NYAM and the NYC Health Department partnered on an innovative project to understand New Yorkers’ points of view on equitable COVID-19 vaccine distribution using a public deliberation approach. Diane Kolack, MPH “I’m working with counties across New York State to create a healthier, more age-friendly state by guiding the implementation of Health & Age Across All Policies.” Michele Calvo, MPH "I’m focused on ensuring health equity remains central in our response to the COVID-19 pandemic through policy analysis and research. My work prioritizes historically marginalized communities including people living in poverty, people who use drugs, and incarcerated individuals." Danielle Laraque-Arena, MD, FAAP “I’m focused on addressing inequities in maternal and child health. I’m proud to be part of a forward-thinking, inclusive organization dedicated to achieving health equity for people of all ages.” Shaneah Taylor, MPH “I’m helping to create a platform where community residents can consistently and boldly advocate for equity in the care they receive for their children, neighbors, and families across various systems. I participate in initiatives led by residents that use their wisdom and lived experience to activate the policy changes they deem necessary to thrive in East Harlem.” Linda Weiss, PhD "I’m working with community-based organizations, healthcare providers, departments of health, and others to identify community needs and priorities—and to build the evidence base for effective programs that address key social factors, support good health, and reduce inequities."
